Q&A with DJ Speedsta:

The hiatus in making music… where have you been and what have you been doing?

LOL, I’ve been riding my skateboard and just taking a break from life, I was living in Cape Town for a year tryna clear my mind. Get some inspiration. I don’t think people would be hearing any of this music if I didn’t take a break. Probably the best thing I’ve done in my life.

What instigated this move?

Me dropping music, getting back to events, back on TV etc was always gonna happen just at the right time. For the longest of time, I wasn’t in the correct space to get back to work on that level. I now am!

You’ve always been next level with the features… how did this collaboration come about?

LOL, we try, always! This one was Zooci’s idea. He and I spent 4 weeks going back on forth ●  ●. At some point, I thought the song wasn’t gonna come out this year!

I’m glad I wasn’t patient because we have a masterpiece in our hands.

Is there an album? What can we expect?

Yes, my album is on the way. That’s all I’m saying for now.

This song is a very strong contender for Song of the Year: a brilliant euphony of musical perfection! We really have been waiting for a classic to define the new era in SA hip hop, and My Way is ticking all the boxes. What an interesting time to be alive, and we can’t wait to hear the entire body of work from our favourite DJ: Speedsta really is killing it with this one son!
