Tafadzwa Tarukwana aka Asaph is an award winning Hip Hop artist from Zimbabwe based in Bulawayo. Born and raised in Bulawayo he learnt at S.O.S Primary School, Baines Primary School, Hillside Primary School and Petra High School.
He officially got into music in 2007 recording a few singles and mixtapes as well as participating in ciphers and rap battles in the city. In 2012 he started making Gospel Hip Hop and released 3 projects using the stage name Kwanfire.
In 2015 he changed his name to Asaph and dropped the Gospel Hip Hop title and release his first nationally recognized project Kingsvilla which even got him nominated for Best Hip Hop album at the 2016 ZimHipHop Awards.
Over the span of his career he has shared the with a number of international artists performing in the country such as Cassper Nyovest, AKA, Moonchild Sanely, Nasty C, Emtee and Sheckinah to name a few. He has headlined a number of local and national events such as the Bulawayo Music Festival, Unplugged and Shoko Festival. He has collaborated with artists around the country such as Dj Stavo, Ammara Brown, Calvin and South African based vocalist FRYA.
In 2018 he released MAMBO which went to dominated the ZiFM Gtel Top 40 charts being the number 1 song in the country for over 2 months and won him 3 ZimHipHop Awards and 3 Changamire Hip Hop Awards. 2019 he released V.I.C. (Vibe Is Correct) which won best Hip Hop song at the 2020 Skyzmetro Music Awards and best Hip Hop artist at the 2019 ROIL Bulawayo Arts Awards.
Like So is his latest and second single for 2020. It's a song about unity and national identity for the youth. With a Mbira Trap fusion instrumental, catchy chorus and music video shot at the Bulawayo Large City Hall this single is set to be a chart topper and could see Asaph winning more awards in 2020.
